Pet Portraits are available in hard and soft chalk pastel, oil pastel, graphite, charcoal, watercolour pencil or coloured pencil. I will usually advise and discuss the most suitable art materials to use for your pet portrait and it is dependent on the type of animal and “effect” you are looking to achieve.
I use the highest quality of medium and support, ensuring that my work is fully archival. This means that the artwork that I create for you will not fade, or bleed or discolour with time as long as correct care is taken of the painting.
I work from reference photos for all commissions and as such require several high quality images to work from.
As a pet owner and artist, it seemed only natural that I would paint my pets but it wasn’t until I lost my dog Molly to cancer that I turned to my art to help me get over the loss, but also to create something to remember her by.
I studied with Vivien Walters in the UK, learning how to draw animals in pastels and have been painting pet portraits ever since.
Most of my pet portraits are in pastel, often painted on velour, a very soft smooth textured paper..
Pet portraits can be commissioned and take anything from ten days to four weeks to complete depending on complexity and my current bookings. Prices are set according to the materials and size of pet portrait to be undertaken.
The pricing structure below is purely as a guide. Once I am in receipt of high quality reference images I can provide personalised quotes. Please note that no new orders can be taken until January 2024.
Although I am Europe based, my clients come from all over the world so please don’t hesitate to get in touch as I very often send pieces to other countries.

Prices are for a single pet. Up to 3 extra subject(s) per portrait, add €60. All prices exclude framing and shipping.

Booking and Payment
A 50% deposit is required in advance of commencement of all commissions to book a slot, with the balance payable within 7 days of completion.
If the commission is cancelled more than 4 weeks prior to date of commencement then 25% will be refunded.
If the commission is cancelled with less than 4 weeks notice then the full deposit becomes non-refundable.
The estimated date of commencement and completion is given at the time of booking and invoicing.
Payment methods are via bank transfer, cheque, cash, or Paypal. You do not need a Paypal account to use this facility.
Gift vouchers are available in physical or digital format to your desired value. The ability to purchase vouchers will be made available here shortly, but until then please contact me with your requirements.
For physical gift certificates, please allow plenty of time for posting abroad, especially over the festive season.
