Pet Portraits & Nature Art

I started painting in 1997, working mainly in oils and then acrylics.  Since then I’ve tried out watercolours, ink, gouache, charcoal, graphite, coloured pencils and pastels.

My art work is mainly held in private collections and is sold online and at Gallery XXI in Portimao, Portugal. I take pet portrait commissions and also exhibit at the annual National Exhibition of Wildlife Art in the UK.

Limited Edition prints will be made available through this website in the near future whilst print on demand versions can be found in my store on Fine Art America.

I became involved in painting 20 years ago  when I started to learn in earnest, going to weekly art classes. Starting in oils, I soon discovered I preferred acrylics, although I believe both have their place and I still work with both these mediums.

However, my medium of choice now is pastels – oil or chalk pastel depending on my subject and more recently, pan pastels. My subjects are typically animals, flora and fauna although I’m now exploring other areas such as landscapes.

I’d never had formal schooling or training in the subject, and as my skills and curiosity developed, I thought some formal education would help. I obtained a Diploma in Painting & Drawing from the London Art College some 15 years ago, and continue to learn through books, classes, online clubs and videos.
