Last week, I had the pleasure of immersing myself in the breathtaking natural beauty of Sagres and the surrounding Vila do Bispo area, a region alive with birds, unique flauna and vibrant sea life. The annual bird festival drew over 1,000 visitors from across five continents, turning this coastal haven into a buzzing hub for bird lovers – myself included.
In addition to marvelling at the spectacle of migratory birds – in between the cloud and fog periods – I had the joy of sharing my passion for both nature and art by leading daily workshops.
Each morning, I was greeted by eager participants, all of whom left not only with a new skill or two but also with their own personal masterpiece to take home. The enthusiasm and creativity they brought to the sessions was truly inspiring.
The festival, expertly organised by Almargem, SPEA, and the Vila do Bispo Municipality, was a triumph. Their careful planning ensured that everything ran smoothly, from the logistics to the activities that captured the magic of this migration season. It’s a special time in Sagres, and I’m grateful to have been part of it.
